On Sunday, October 2nd, four members of Alpha Xi Delta were asked to lead the Fraternity and Sorority Life Leadership Institute “So Now What?” This event was a few hours long and it’s focus is to show new members in the Greeklife community how to maximize their time in their organization.
Michelle Lauber, Christi Carpenter, Bailey Hamm, and Sofia Gonzalez represented Alpha Xi Delta well, being 4 of the 5 female leaders. It was an honor to have Spring Rosado, our Fraternity and Sorority Life Advisor, ask so many Alpha Xi Deltas to be a part of this experience.
It just goes to show that when you “inspire women to realize their potential”, people will take notice and allow you to inspire the entire community as well 🙂 This is such a great year for Alpha Xi Delta, and we cannot wait to see what is ahead!
On Saturday, October 1st, the strapping young men of Alpha Epsilon Pi paired with our lovely ladies in a joint car wash to raise funds for our philanthropies. It was such a blast cleaning cars for a cause, as well as getting to know the new pledges of AEPi! We brought a few cookies as a thank you for reaching out to us and cannot wait for future opportunities to spend time with these fraternity men! xoxi
This past Friday, November 30th, was our first social with the fraternity gentlemen of Phi Delta Theta! It was a yeehaw-good time at Round Up, a country western bar in Davie, complete with a dance floor and line-dancing lessons! The girls lassoed up their cowboys by pairing their bronzed legs with blue jean shorts and cowboy boots and the boys did their best to keep up on the dance floor! Everyone agreed that it was one of the most fun socials we have ever had, thanks to our Social Chair, Ashley Reynolds! She did an amaXing job planning this event and we are all looking forward to our next social with Sigma Phi Epsilon (our homecoming partners) on Friday, October 28th! Giddy-up! xoxi
On September 24, 2011, FAU hosted it’s 4th Annual Leadership Conference, which drew over 400 students from not only FAU, but neighboring universities as well. It was a huge success and it was great to have Alpha Xis be part of it! Christi Carpenter and Bailey Hamm are two of the eight members selected to be an Elite Owl Leadership Ambassador, and they helped facilitate leadership workshops for students throughout the conference. In addition, members of Omicron Delta Kappa, such as Katie Gootenberg, were there to help volunteer and lead students as well. The faculty facilitator for Elite Owls and ODK, Katie Burke, is also an alumn of our Theta Iota chapter, so it was fun to all see our leadership efforts combined for an amaXing day!
Our Sisterhood chair, Kali Sweezy, planned a delicious sisterhood at Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt on Atlantic Ave in Downtown Delray. “Froyo” is a fad that is here to stay, as seen by the multiple self-serve joints that are scattered across the US. Orange Leaf is a favorite in South Florida, and our girls all loved getting a free treat and some time to visit with each other! And afterwards, we are all able to window shop downtown, head to the beach, or grab a bite for dinner. It was such a fun, casual sisterhood and we cannot wait for the next one coming up this Saturday, October 8th! Thanks Kali for such a fun and tasty time! 🙂
